Dr. Julie O’Neil, Associate Professor of Journalism, teaches courses in public relations, integrated marketing communications, and research methods. Prior to joining TCU in 2001, Dr. O’Neil worked for almost a decade in public relations and marketing in a number of settings: agency, corporate, and non-profit.. She also taught public relations courses at the University of Utah before coming to TCU.

Her areas of expertise include research methods, integrated marketing communications, and issues of gender and public relations. Her research has been presented at regional and national conferences and has been published in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Public Relations Research, Public Relations Review, and the Journal of Nonprofit and Public Sector Marketing. Her most recent research has examined measurement and evaluation practices used to demonstrate the value of public relations.

Dr. O’Neil is a former president of a Toastmasters club in San Antonio and a former Board member of both the Greater Fort Worth and San Antonio chapters of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). She is currently a member of the Association for Education and Journalism in Mass Communication and the Greater Fort Worth chapter of PRSA. National honor organizations of which she is a member include Beta Gamma Sigma, Gamma Beta Phi, Kappa Tau Alpha, and Phi Kappa Phi.

In addition to teaching and academic research, Dr. O’Neil provides research consulting to organizations.
