Mike Wood brings more than 25 years experience in national and international
integrated marketing communications programs to his position as Professional-In-Residence.
Wood retired from InterTan Inc. where he served as vice president of
marketing for operations in Australia, Belgium, Canada and the United Kingdom.
InterTan
Inc. operated the former non-U.S. retail electronics store operations
of RadioShack Corporation.
He transferred to InterTan Inc. from RadioShack U.S. where he was vice
president of advertising. At RadioShack, Wood was responsible for the
nation's largest in-house full service advertising agency handling the advertising/marketing
plan, all creative efforts and the placement of all media for the company.
Professionally, Wood has won over 40 A.A.F. Addy Awards including two “Best
of Show” Gold Awards. He has also won the New York Film Critics Gold
award in both the film and multi-media categories. He is a member of the American
Advertising Association and has judged the organization’s National Student
Advertising Competition. Wood was also inducted into Kappa Tau Alpha, the
national honorary society for journalism.
At TCU, Wood teaches Media Analysis & Planning, Campaigns, Global Campaigns,
Ad/PR copy & Promotion
and Advertising Principles. He also teaches Global Advertising and Public
Relations during the summer at the TCU London Centre. Wood’s NSAC
campaigns teams have been among the top-ranked teams in the American
Advertising Federation
National Student Campaigns Competition for seven out of the last
nine years in the 10th District. In 2007, Wood's campaigns team
won the district championship and went on to finish number eight among
the nation's top ranked teams.
Wood’s NSAC campaigns teams led him to develop his research specialty
utilizing the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator to determine psychological types
in the advertising industry. His work was recognized as the first research
done on advertising types in the U.S. and is included in the largest single
collection of works on the MBTI in the world at the Isabel Briggs Myers Memorial
library.
