Mac Engel currently covers the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Engel began his professional writing career in August of ’98, when he worked as a free lancer for several outlets. He was hired full time by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in the fall of ’99.

He covered the Texas Rangers in ’01 and ‘02, the Dallas Stars from ’02 to ’05, and the Cowboys for the past two years.

Among the notable events he has covered include: the ’96 Summer Olympics, the ’04 Summer Olympics in Greece, the ’99 NHL Stanley Cup Finals, the ’06 NBA Finals, the ’06 Super Bowl and the ’01 American League Championship series. He’s also written several travel stories, movie and book reviews and other non-sports related stories.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from the University of Kansas in 1995. He spent the first year out of college as a media relations intern for the Missouri State athletic department. He worked in the TCU athletic department as a media relations graduate assistant. He earned an MLA from TCU in May of ’98.
